Abstract

The background of this study is based on the phenomenon of declining moral character, especially among the younger generation. This condition is reflected in various deviant behaviors, such as fights between students, promiscuity, drug abuse, and a lack of respect for teachers and parents. This phenomenon indicates a moral crisis that requires serious attention from various parties. The method used in writing this article is library research with a literature review approach in analyzing data and information about character education for elementary school children. The purpose of this study is to shape and develop the personality and character of students to be virtuous, moral, well-behaved, able to distinguish between good and bad, and instill spiritual intelligence. The results of the study show that the government is expected to formulate a model of moral education based on the Qur'an and Hadith, especially for elementary schools, which are expected to implement an integral moral education that includes the relationship between humans and Allah SWT. The community plays a role in guiding children to have noble character in their daily lives, so that character education becomes a shared responsibility. Thus, strengthening character education based on Islamic teachings is an important strategy in shaping a future generation that is faithful, noble, and has integrity.
