Publication Ethics

At-Ta'dib: Jurnal Ilmiah Prodi Pendidikan Agama Islam is an official scientific publication that publishes research articles and theoretical studies covering: 1) Concepts of Islamic Education, 2) Islamic Education Curriculum, 3) Islamic Education Learning, 4) Philosophy of Islamic Education, and 5) Interpretation of Educational Verses and Hadiths, which have not been previously published. This statement of the scientific code of ethics represents a declaration by all parties involved in the journal publication process, including the journal manager, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. The statement is based on the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The ethics of scientific publication uphold three core ethical values: 1) Neutrality, meaning free from conflicts of interest in the management of publications; 2) Fairness, meaning granting authorship rights to those entitled to be recognized as authors; and 3) Honesty, meaning free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications. All submitted manuscripts will be checked using a plagiarism detection application to prevent plagiarism.

Duties of the Journal Manager

  1. Determine the journal's name, scientific scope, publication frequency, and apply for accreditation if necessary.
  2. Appoint members of the editorial board.
  3. A formal agreement defines the relationship between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties.
  4. Respect confidentiality concerning contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  5. Enforce norms and regulations regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
  6. Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and readers.
  7. Establish guidelines and ethical standards of conduct for editors and reviewers.
  8. Ensure the journal's regular and timely publication.
  9. Guarantee the availability of funding to support the sustainability of journal publication.
  10. Build collaborative networks with research institutions and related agencies.
  11. Prepare the necessary licenses and legal documentation.

Duties of the Editor

  1. Bridge the needs of readers and authors while continuously striving to improve publication quality.
  2. Implement processes to ensure the quality of published works.
  3. Objectively uphold freedom of expression.
  4. Maintain the integrity of authors' academic records.
  5. Provide corrections, clarifications, and apologies when necessary.
  6. Be responsible for scientific papers' writing style and formatting, while the content and all statements remain the authors' responsibility.
  7. Actively seek feedback from authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial board members to enhance publication quality.
  8. Conduct regular internal evaluations of the journal's quality.
  9. Support authors' initiatives on publication ethics by including clearance forms in each manuscript submission.
  10. Be open-minded to new ideas or opposing viewpoints that may differ from personal opinions to advance knowledge.
  11. Avoid biased decisions by not defending personal views, authors, or third parties, and instead seek scientifically accountable solutions.
  12. Encourage authors to revise their manuscripts until they are suitable for publication.

Duties of the Reviewer

  1. Review manuscripts and provide feedback to the editor to determine the manuscript’s eligibility for publication.
  2. Reviewers must not evaluate manuscripts in which they are involved, either directly or indirectly.
  3. Provide constructive suggestions, input, and positive recommendations on scientific manuscripts.
  4. Respect the author’s privacy by not disclosing the review results, suggestions, or recommendations to others.
  5. Encourage authors to improve their manuscripts.
  6. Re-review revised manuscripts in accordance with established standards.
  7. Conduct timely reviews of manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s style guidelines and scientific principles (such as data collection methods, author credibility, conclusions, etc.).

Duties of the Author

  1. Ensure that all individuals listed as authors meet the criteria for authorship.
  2. Be collectively responsible for the work and content of the article, including methods, analysis, calculations, and details.
  3. Disclose the source of resources (including funding), whether directly or indirectly.
  4. Explain the limitations of the research.
  5. Respond to comments made by reviewers and the editorial board in a professional, scientific, and timely manner.
  6. Notify the editor in writing if the manuscript is to be withdrawn.
  7. Provide a statement that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere in any language, and is not under consideration by another publisher.
