Abstract

 Translating is work that requires language skills, experience, and talent because the quality of translation affects the quality of the translation results. The translation is the process of transferring ideas into the form of an expression or explanation of ideological conditions. This study aims to determine the factors that influence students' ability to translate Indonesian text into Arabic text. The method used in this research is the descriptive analysis method and the instruments used are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The result of the study showed that there factors influencing student’s ability to translate Indonesian text into Arabic text such as linguistic’s factor and extra linguistic’s factor, the language factor consists of differences in the mother tongue and the target language, lack of mastery of grammar, sound differences between one language and another, lack of vocabulary, and lack of conformity between the meaning of pronunciation in one language and another. While the extra language factors consist of geographical factors, social factors and educational background.
