KOMUNIKASI BERBASIS PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER: Studi Kritis Pemikiran Ibnu Taimiyah Tentang Tazkiyah Al-Nafs

Abstract

Based communication of Akhlak education is terminology used in Islamic literature related to character education. In the Islamic tradition, there are some alternatives taken in implementing moral education, one of its by the Tazkiyah al-Nafs. The study aims to describe and analyze the ideas of Ibnu Taimiyah about Tazkiyah al-Nafs and its relevance to contemporary character education. The method used in this study is a critical analytical. The results of the study are as follows: (1) the concept of human Ibnu Taimiyah which consists of two elements: the body (al-Jasad) and soul (al-Nafs). The soul is as manager to govern all human behavior and has the innate potential called "nature/fitrah". (2) The primary purpose Ibnu Taimiyah thought about Tazkiyah al-Nafs is the formation of good character through education of the soul by means of optimizing the potential of a soul (al-Nafs). (3) The thought of Ibnu Taimiyah about the iman and
tauhid as a basis Tazkiyah al-nafs is very relevant to the concept of character education. Soul affect the process of thinking and attitude of a person, whereas the individual soul is strongly influenced by the value system or ideology belief, in this case Tauhid. (4) Method of Tazkiyah al-Nafs according to Ibnu Taimiyah only one, that is takwa, in accordance with the definition of a very universal takwa in the view of Ibnu Taimiyah. All methods Tazkiyah al-Nafs mentioned by Ibnu Taimiyah was part of takwa (ibadah, mujahadah, and taubat).
