Abstract

listening skill have an important role in mastering foreign languages ​​for non-speakers at all stages. To teach listening there are many ways, including by using language games that are beneficial to the learning process in an attractive and competitive Arabic language, where students feel joy and happiness. This study aims to find out how to use language games in teaching listening and to find out the effectiveness of language games in teaching listening in the MTsN Model Banda Aceh. In this study, researcher used the experimental method, while the population were students of class VIII, the sample consisted of two classes, namely the control group and the experimental group. To collect data and information, researcheruse research instruments, like tests. After the researcher conducted tests in the pre-test and post-test from the two groups, the researcher reached the results of the study obtained in this study that the use of language games in teaching listening made students yearn to learn and categorize various forms of play in their activities and is a way to improve and develop language skills and it’s elements and the last is effective to improve student competency, and this is obtained because the results of the"t-test" obtained in the calculation = 5.49 is greater than the results of t table "= 2.00.
