Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the application of the Direct Method in teaching the Arabic language and improving Arabic language education at the Contemporary Religious Institute in Bukit Tinggi. The research methodology used is qualitative descriptive research, employing data collection through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data triangulation and discussion were used to validate the data. The results of applying the Direct Method in teaching Arabic show that students are more enthusiastic about improving their Arabic language skills and are motivated because the teacher constantly communicates in Arabic throughout the class. Moreover, the students show faster comprehension of unfamiliar vocabulary when the teacher explains using body gestures, visual aids such as pictures, and other props. The teacher delivers Arabic lessons fluently both inside and outside the classroom
