Abstract

Learning Arabic is divided into four skills, including reading skills. The problem that arises in reading skills is that many students cannot read Arabic texts properly. Some of them make mistakes in answering the questions about the text, and some of them cannot take the main idea from the text being read. Most of them still feel that the Arabic language is the most difficult lesson. The purpose of the research is to improve the reading skill of seventh graders by using the game of torn cards in the Islamic middle school, Sheikh Ibrahim Harun Payakumbuh. The researcher used experimental quantitative research. It is to reveal the improvement of students' ability in reading skill. The method of data collection is observation and tests. The researcher divided the students into two classes, the experimental class and the control class. The result of teaching the reading skill of students after using this game is that the average result of the post test in the experimental class is 76.36, and the mean result of the post test in the control class is 46.96. The researcher found that the result of the t-account (7.599) and the t-table (1,72074), so the result of the t-account is greater than the t-table, and the difference between them means 6,01026 The researcher came to the conclusion that using the shredded card game is effective in improving the reading skill of students in the seventh semester at the Islamic Middle School Sheikh Ibrahim Harun Payakumbuh.
